Your degree will be granted by a specific college and department, but you will apply to the Graduate School. Departmental deadlines vary, but all students looking for assistantship funding should submit their applications by January 15 for August admission.
The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is not a requirement of the Graduate School, but may be required by the program to which you are applying. ETS provides a GRE Fee Reduction Program for individuals with demonstrated financial need and for national programs supporting underrepresented groups. Those who receive a fee voucher also receive free access to some test preparation materials.
International students make up nearly 40% of our graduate population in Blacksburg and over 30% of the graduate population across all campuses. International students seeking F-1 or J-1 status may apply only to the Blacksburg and Greater Washington DC area campuses and may not enroll in executive masters and virtual programs. Our recommended metrics include an overall GPA of 3. 0 and GRE scores of 150 verbal and quantitative. The VT Graduate School requires a TOEFL score of 90.
