College of Nursing and Health Sciences is a suburban institution with its headquarters in Burlington, Vermont.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students for careers in a variety of health care disciplines.
Our undergraduate programs lay a strong foundation for further education while preparing students for initial entry into practice in clinical and health-related professions. Graduate programs at CNHS offer training in advanced practice and professional leadership.
Applicants to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences must complete the following in addition to the university entrance requirements (four years of English, three years of math, two years of a foreign language, three years of a natural or physical science including a lab, and three years of social sciences):
- one year of biology
- one year of chemistry
- four years of math, including trigonometry or pre-calculus
For all programs, additional science coursework in the senior year of high school is advised. For applicants interested in medical laboratory science and medical radiation sciences, one year of physics is advised.
Candidates must be capable of performing a number of necessary tasks in order to be admitted to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. These include the ability to communicate and observe, as well as the necessary motor skills to carry out physical diagnostic tests and fundamental laboratory and clinical procedures. They also include the emotional stability needed to use good judgment and function well under pressure.
Applications for transfer from UVM and other recognized colleges and universities are welcome at CNHS. Application selection is competitive, and major transfer opportunities are not guaranteed. The selection process will also take into account relevant volunteer or employment experience in a clinical environment in addition to GPA.
