- The Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung (/j/ YUUNG; German: [kal j]; 26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) founded analytical psychology. He was born in Switzerland and lived from 1875 to 1961 (aged 86). He attended the University of Basel and studied from 1895 to 1900. The disciplines of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies have all benefited from Jung’s work. Eugen Bleuler employed Jung as a research scientist at the renowned Burghölzli hospital. He came to the attention of Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, during this time. The two men had a protracted correspondence and worked together briefly on a shared understanding of human psychology.
- Leonhard Euler was a Swiss mathematician, physicist, astronomer, geographer, logician, and engineer. He founded the studies of graph theory and topology and made groundbreaking and influential discoveries in many other branches of mathematics, such as algebra, geometry, and topology. Leonhard Euler was born in Switzerland and lived from 1707 to 1783 (aged 76). He enrolled at the University of Basel in 1720. He popularized a lot of contemporary mathematical jargon and notation, such as the idea of a mathematical function. His contributions to mechanics, fluid dynamics, optics, astronomy, and music theory are also well known.
