With the mission of serving as “America’s medical school for uniformed physicians,” the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) was established. USU, which is based in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks prospective medical students with a desire to serve others and who thrive in a team environment.
All USU students are active-duty service members, so the government pays for their education. S. they are employed by the government and are given a military salary and benefits, such as a housing allowance. Both civilian and military applicants are accepted by the USU for commissioning into the Army, Navy, Air Force, and U S. Public Health Service.
