All engineering transfer applications are submitted through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Transfer applicants apply to UIUC through myIllini.
Any transfer student desiring to complete a major at The Grainger College of Engineering, including a dual degree, must submit an application and be admitted right away. Ineligible for later admission or on-campus transfer to the Pre-Engineering Program (PREP) or Grainger Engineering are transfer students who enroll in other colleges on campus. No exceptions will be granted.
All applicants must have transfer coursework prior to applying that is equivalent to the following UIUC courses in order to be considered for transfer admission to The Grainger College of Engineering:

It depends. Requests for significant changes within the college must be approved by the staff of Transfer Programs. Dual-degree petitions and major change requests to computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering are not allowed due to space restrictions. A student accepted into Electrical or Computer Engineering who had only a passing familiarity with the introductory courses at their previous school (e g. ECE 110, 120, 210, and 220), could be subject to significant departmental change. All other major requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Outside of Grainger Engineering, inquiries about declaring a major should be made to the relevant college or department.
Although Grainger Engineering does consider applications for second bachelor’s degrees, first bachelor’s degree applicants are given preference in limited-capacity majors.
