Cognitive Science Major Requirements

Following the completion of all prerequisite courses and the posting of final grades, students may declare their major standing. Via the Message Center on myUCLA, you can submit a major change request form.

An overall grade point average of 2. 00 (C) is required in the upper division major courses. It is necessary to enroll in the Core, Laboratory, and Elective courses for a letter grade.

M117A Psych Without finishing all three classes, students will not receive any credit for the Cognitive Science elective. Petition the Undergraduate Advising Office upon completion of the series.

**Prior approval by the Psychology Advising Office is required. 191CH cannot fulfill the fieldwork/research requirement if it is taken as an elective.

Two (2) Fieldwork/Research Courses
Two quarters of fieldwork and/or research in cognitive science (Psych 195B and/or Psych 196B).

Only P/NP-based fieldwork and research courses are available. Students may also use independent study (Psych 199 or 191CH) with a cognitive science professor to fulfill this requirement with the prior approval of the Psychology Advising Office.
