Early Decision I (ED I) Deadline: No 1
Applicants who have made Santa Clara University their top choice and who intend to enroll there if accepted may choose the Early Decision I (ED I) option. It is a fantastic way to demonstrate interest, as many of our alumni’s children and grandchildren apply.
Early Decision I is a binding admission program. If accepted to SCU, you are promising to enroll in the term for which you applied by submitting an ED I application. Gap-year requests won’t be taken into consideration under this track. Other institutions cannot accept Early Decision I applications from you.
You are permitted to apply to other Early Action programs, but if accepted to SCU, you must consent to promptly withdrawing your application from all other institutions.
Late December is when decisions for students applying for ED I are mailed. For accepted ED I applicants, the enrollment deposit deadline is January 7. Denied applicants are not reconsidered during Regular Decision.

An earlier admissions decision is possible thanks to the early action non-binding admissions program. Admission decisions include: admit, deferred to Regular Decision, or denied. Early Action applicants must follow the program guidelines of other colleges in addition to applying to Santa Clara. Decisions are mailed to students in late December. Candidates have until May 1 to accept or decline enrollment if admitted in Early Action. Denied applicants are not reconsidered during Regular Decision.
Early Decision II (ED II) Deadline: Jan. 7
The Early Decision II (ED II) option, like Early Decision I, is for applicants who have made Santa Clara University their top choice and who are committed to enrolling there if accepted. It is another great option to showcase interest.
Early Decision II is another binding admission program. If accepted to SCU, you are promising to enroll in the term for which you applied by submitting an ED II application. Gap-year requests won’t be taken into consideration under this track. Other institutions cannot receive your Early Decision II applications.
You are permitted to apply to other Early Action programs, but if accepted to SCU, you must consent to promptly withdrawing your application from all other institutions.
Decisions for students applying ED II are mailed in mid-Februrary. For accepted ED II applicants, the enrollment deposit deadline is March 1. Denied applicants are not reconsidered during Regular Decision.
Regular Decision (RD) Deadline: Jan. 7
Regular Decision is a non-binding admission program. It is the accepted procedure for applying to universities and enables us to evaluate your application based on your complete first semester or second trimester senior year grades. Regular Decision applicants receive a letter informing them of their admissions decision by April 1.

Does Santa Clara offer early action?
