Rice University Medical School Acceptance Rate

Like most universities, Rice does not offer a “pre-med” major. If you’re thinking about a career in medicine, you can major in any field you like as long as you meet the requirements for medical school. Rigid courses in the natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, are part of this. Your likelihood of getting into medical school does not increase if you major in a scientific field. But for study in medical school, a solid background in the sciences and mathematics is necessary.

Over 90% of our students get into med school—the first time.

What Makes a Strong Pre-Med School?

You’re better prepared for the application process for medical school and have a higher chance of being accepted if you attend a top pre-med school. It outlines a precise path to medical school and puts students on the right track from the start.

What to look for in a strong pre-med school:

A high acceptance rate for medical school – what percentage of applicants are accepted? The higher the number, the better your chance.

Resources with a focus on your field already built in – Research, clinical, publication, and service opportunities give you great experience and look great on your resume.

Despite not sounding appealing, a challenging pre-med curriculum prepares students for the MCAT and medical school.

Expert pre-med counseling can lower the likelihood of transfers and gap years, which can be time- and money-consuming.
