The Change of Degree Objective (CODO) process is used by current Purdue students on the West Lafayette campus to transfer into Purdue Engineering, while the transfer application process is used by students at other colleges and universities, including regional Purdue campuses.
Transfer into an Engineering Degree Program
You must fulfill the minimal requirements in order to be considered for admission to a Purdue engineering degree program. Following are the criteria and other important information:
- You must have completed at least 24 credits of college-level coursework, which are equivalent to those listed on the Coursework tab, prior to enrolling. These are the courses that first-year Purdue engineering students take. (Note: Candidates for some degree programs who have not finished all of the freshman-year courses will be taken into consideration.)
- You need to achieve the GPA requirements for your chosen program, which are listed on the Minimum GPA tab.
- Because of capacity, some engineering programs are closed to transfers. On the website for closed programs and among the GPA requirements, closed programs are noted.
- The transfer coursework must be equivalent to the Purdue course number when it is listed. To check equivalencies, use the online transfer credit course equivalency guide.
- In-progress courses may be included in the credit count. Before making an admissions decision, admissions may request a final, official transcript for the most recent semester, and a final, official transcript is necessary before enrollment.
- If you’re transferring from an Indiana public university, you can use this list of equivalencies to determine which courses might be offered at your new school. ENGR 13100 and ENGR 13200 can be replaced with courses that are equivalent to ENGR 10000 and ENGR 12600.
- You can find descriptions of Purdue courses on the University Catalog website.
- Calculus I: (MA 16100 or MA 16500)
- Calculus II: (MA 16200 or MA 16600)
- Calculus-based Chemistry: (CHM 11500)
- Calculus-based Physics: (PHYS 17200)
- Advanced mathematics, chemistry, or physics course (Note: Some programs have more detailed requirements that are listed among the GPA requirements on the Minimum GPA tab. ) .
- English Composition or Speech
In addition to the above-mentioned required coursework, the following courses are advised in order to reach the minimum 24 credits needed to transfer into an engineering degree program.
- English Composition: 1 semester (course that satisfies the written communication requirement of the Purdue Core Curriculum)
- One semester of speech (a course that satisfies the Purdue Core Curriculum requirement for oral communication)
- Humanities: 1 semester
- Transforming Ideas to Innovations I: (ENGR 13100)*
- Transforming Ideas to Innovations II: (ENGR 13200)*
*ENGR 13100 and ENGR 13200 may be replaced with courses equivalent to ENGR 10000 and ENGR 12600.
