A clinical training program called Community Based Internships (CBI) operates in both public and private clinics that are not connected to or owned by Parker University. The CBI experience lasts roughly 15 weeks and takes place in the student’s final trimester before graduation. The course is intended to strengthen the knowledge and abilities acquired during a student’s academic and clinical training.

CBI programs include:

  • There are numerous Practice Based Internship (PBI) (private practices) locations in Texas and throughout the U S.
  • several U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals and clinics
  • one U. S. Location of the Department of Defense (DoD): Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington
  • the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF), a renowned academic medical center that is nonprofit.
  • three International rotation sites (Canada, Jamaica, and Spain)

The purpose of Parker University’s CBI program is to:

  • offer students a range of training locations to enhance their clinical knowledge and experiences
  • help build their confidence levels
  • prepare them to be industry-ready upon graduation

Doctors are qualified as Parker University Extension Faculty in all CBI programs. Prior to participation, CBI doctors go through a rigorous screening process, and they are then trained to properly and expertly mentor Parker University students. Additionally, their documentation efforts are scrutinized to make certain that participating students continue to meet the highest standards for medical documentation performance and learning.

An interactive map of every CBI location open during the student’s final trimester can be found above.
