- The following documents are also required of applicants who are already in Canada: a copy of their current study permit (or other documentation demonstrating their right to remain in Canada), a letter of acceptance and transcript from another school, and a completion certificate from a Canadian educational institution. Applicants will be required to pay the non-refundable tuition deposit of $2,200 upon receiving their Offer of Admission in order to receive their Letter of Acceptance.

Accept Offer of Admission & Make Payment

Apply for Study Permit
In some countries, this can take up to 6 months. DO NOT DELAY.
To study in Canada, international students must have a Study Permit (sometimes called a study visa) issued by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada. In some cases, a Temporary Resident Visa is required in addition to the Study Permit. Please see the Canada Immigration website to determine if you require a Temporary Resident Visa.
The time it takes to approve a permit varies depending on the country of origin of the applicant. You must have already obtained a letter of acceptance from Mohawk College before you can start the application process for a study permit.
Tip: As soon as you receive your Letter of Acceptance, we advise you to start the Study Permit application process. If you don’t send the proof of your accepted study permit as soon as you get it, you risk losing your seat.
To learn more about the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) application process and to become aware of special programs available to applicants from particular countries, such as the Student Direct Stream, first-time Study Permit applicants are encouraged to visit Visa offices outside of Canada.

Please notify Mohawk College when you receive your study permit (follow the instructions in your letter of acceptance). After that, you can start planning your trip to Canada and start planning your housing while you’re a student at Mohawk College.

- Exemptions – Students may be able to earn credit toward their Mohawk credential if they have successfully completed a course at another postsecondary institution. Students with international credentials who are considering an exemption should have their credentials evaluated before arriving.
- Advanced Standing – Upon receiving approval from the Academic area, students who have successfully completed an Academic Post Secondary program at another postsecondary institution may be eligible for advanced standing into semester 2 or higher. Prior to arriving, students with international credentials who wish to start a program in semester 2 or higher should have their credentials evaluated.
