Pre-med students must complete a lengthy secondary application for Loyola Medical School that includes numerous secondary essays. Essay 1: Describe how you came to the decision that you wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Explain how the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) can assist you in achieving your goals of becoming the type of person and doctor you want to be.
Essay 2 Social justice is a crucial component of education at SSOM. According to the Jesuit tradition, social justice is the justice that each person is entitled to due to their own inherent human dignity. What have your actual experiences with social justice taught you about yourself? Describe how you intend to continue to promote current social justice issues both as a medical student and as a doctor. A crucial component of Jesuit education at SSOM is the recognition of inherent human dignity. How do you intend to continue your efforts to advocate for current social justice issues as a medical student and as a doctor? What have you learned from your actual social justice experiences?
Essay 3: Working for social justice means helping underprivileged communities. Describe a memorable experience you had working with or for a community that lacked resources. Describe what you’ve learned about yourself through this service or what has made it more difficult for you to help others in these settings.
Essay 4) Describe your leadership style. Give an example of when and how you have used your leadership style.
Essay No. 5: Describe a personal or professional conflict or challenge that wasn’t academic. Describe the techniques, tools, and/or resources you used to solve the issue.
Essay 6 (if applicable): Please list any new grades you’ve received, changes to your planned coursework or graduation date, address changes, additions to your list of experiences, and anything else you feel is important for us to know.
Essay 7) (if applicable) Please explain in more detail (in less than 1500 characters) any gaps or delays in your education, academic failures, or personal challenges not mentioned in other essays.
Essay 8: If you have not been enrolled in coursework for more than two years, please tell us what you have been doing since your coursework ended. This essay is advised for gap year and non-traditional students.
If you have previously submitted an application to SSOM, please list the years of those submissions and explain how your application has changed since that time in Essay 9 (if applicable).

Stritch Medical School Curriculum Overview:
The initial two years of medical school at Loyola are spent studying preclinical subjects. Following your USMLE Step 1 exam, you complete two years of clinical rotations. Pre-Clinical Years:
