Basic Education —
Depending on the type of program that applicants hope to apply to, different basic academic requirements apply. These are as follows:

Diploma/Certificate
- Graduated from senior secondary school (Grade 12)
- Minimum overall of 60% aggregate for all streams in Grade 10 and Grade 12
- Minimum overall of 50% aggregate in English in Grade 10 and Grade 12
- Applicants applying to Information Technology, Construction, and Engineering programs* must have a minimum overall of 50% aggregate in Mathematics in Grade 10 and Grade 12
- For all other programs, applicants must have passing scores in English and Mathematics in Grade 12 (50% aggregate in Mathematics in Grade 10 for students who completed Grade 12 without Mathematics)
- Minimum marks in Science, Mathematics, and English may be required starting in Grade 12 for some restricted programs.
*Programs include architecture, construction, interior design, IT/computers, civil engineering, and electro-mechanical engineering.
Degree Programs
- Graduated from senior secondary school or equivalent
- Minimum five significant subjects in Grade 12 (including English, with an average of 65% aggregate and no course less than 60% aggregate)
- For students who completed Grade 12 without Mathematics, subject scores from Grade 10 or 11 (or from any post-secondary courses taken) may be considered if the score is minimum 70% aggregate
- Minimum marks in Science courses from Grade 12 are also necessary for some degree programs.
Postgraduate

- First or second-class degree results required (second-class degree result must have a minimum overall average of 55% aggregate for Business programs and 60% aggregate for all other streams)

- The educational institution or a notary must certify the documents as “true copies” in order to show that they are exact replicas of the originals.
- In any of its programs, GBC does not permit a study break of more than five years.
- Postgraduate applicants are not permitted to have more than six or eight backlogs in a three-year or four-year degree.
- All international transcripts must be evaluated by either ICAS or WES because the majority of the programs demand a thorough assessment.

George Brown College awards in-program scholarships to international students. These are based on the academic and extracurricular standards that certain students must meet.
All students must apply for these awards, and only those who are chosen will be informed of the outcome. Once-winning students are prohibited from reapplying for the same scholarship in subsequent years or semesters. This is done to enable every pupil to give their best effort and compete for the prizes.

There is just one single online application portal for all of GBC’s programs. The steps for international students to apply to their desired program are as follows:

George Brown College Part Time Work While Studying

Working Hours
Working on campus is permitted for up to 15 hours per week during the term. Most students who work off campus complete an internship of some kind. For studies, internships, and jobs, some GBC schools and courses permit their students to travel abroad. For instance:
- For two months in January and February, students from the Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing, School of Social and Community Services, and School of Early Childhood are eligible to work in Ritinjali, India.
- Students from the School of Social and Community Services are permitted to work at WROC Jamaica from February to March (roughly 30 days), with the exception of C406 and A103.

International Centre

GBC Student Residence for International Students
GBC offers student residences with private bedrooms in two-bedroom suites. Residents benefit from a private bedroom, a shared living room and kitchen, and a bathroom as part of this arrangement. The fully furnished apartments provide residents with all required services, including local calling, cable television, and internet.

How to Apply?
The college application does not include the housing application. Therefore, students must submit a separate application for housing through GBC’s My Housing Portal. International students must pay a refundable deposit of CAD 475 when applying for housing (payable with a foreign credit card).
Students must withdraw their homestay application 15 weeks prior to the start of the course in order to receive their deposit back in the event that they are not accepted to their desired college.
