50,601 students applied to Georgia Tech this year to join the first-year class of 2022. Of those applicants, 17% were offered admission.
The admitted class is comprised of 11% first-generation college students (neither parent graduated from college); 21% identify as Black or Hispanic; and 56% are men and 44% are women 3,575 applicants are needed to fill the new first-year class.
“Georgia Tech is thriving in a year when many colleges across the country are experiencing enrollment and application declines,” said Rick Clark, director of Undergraduate Admission. Our mission and strategic plan are based on the idea that increasing access to more students from various backgrounds is important. As a result, we will enroll our largest first-year class in Institute history this year, 500 more than when President Cabrera started his tenure on campus three years ago. ”.
The 102 countries, all 50 states (plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), and 112 Georgia counties are represented among the admitted students. The admit rate for Georgia students is 35%; for non-Georgia students the admit rate is 13%
These students have a tremendous amount of academic talent and have made a big difference in their high schools and neighborhoods, according to Clark. Most of them are currently weighing admission offers and generous financial aid packages from some of the top colleges in the U S. Many accepted students will visit campus in the coming weeks for tours or information sessions. Enrolling a new class of Yellow Jackets is ultimately a community effort, and I’m grateful that partners from all over our incredible campus have committed to helping us achieve that common objective. Prior to the May 1 national deposit deadline, if you have the chance to speak with an admitted student, I hope you’ll share your Tech experience with them, respond to any questions they may have, and assist them in forming lasting connections. ”.
