  • Mohammad Hatta was an Indonesian statesman who served as the nation’s first vice president. He was born in Indonesia and lived from 1902 to 1980 (at the age of 78). He and other Indonesians, including Sukarno, the country’s first president, were known as “The Proclamators” and fought to free Indonesia from the Dutch. Hatta was born in Bukittinggi, Indonesia (then Fort de Kock, Dutch East Indies). Following his early education, he studied in the Netherlands from 1921 to 1932 after attending Dutch schools in the Dutch East Indies.
  • The younger brother of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau was born in the Netherlands and lived from 1968 to 2013 (aged 45). He attended Erasmus University Rotterdam and graduated with a Master of Science in economics. Prior to his 2004 marriage without an Act of Consent, Prince Friso was a member of the Dutch Royal Family, but as a result, he was no longer a member of the Dutch Royal House and no longer in the line of succession for the throne.
