About 2,200 applicants from all over the world learned they had been accepted to Duke University on the last day of March.
This year, the most ever, over 50,000 students applied for admission. A total of 3,085 students have been invited to join the Class of 2026 after the 855 Early Decision applicants who were accepted in December.
This year, Duke received 50,02 undergraduate applications, an increase of about 1% over the pool from the previous year and the largest year-to-year increase in the school’s history.
Of those, 45,941 submitted applications through Duke’s Regular Decision program, up from 44,133 the previous year. Among the Regular Decision applicant pool, 2,120 students — 4. 6 percent — will receive a notice of acceptance.
There are an additional 110 Early Decision applicants whose admissions decisions will be announced in March.
The dean of undergraduate admissions, Christoph Guttentag, predicted that this entering class would be exceptional. “We were particularly struck by their dedication to their communities and the environment.” I believe Duke will gain a group of students who are particularly involved, active, and diverse. ”.

Duke anticipates giving about $134 million in need-based financial aid to undergraduate students during the current academic year. For aid seekers, the typical grant offer is more than $54,000 per year.

Record Low Accepted RD
This year, more than 50,000 students submitted applications for admission, the most ever, with 45,491 of those submitting Regular Decision applications. Of these applicants, only 2,120 students (4. 6%) were accepted, making it equally as selective in the RD pool as its Ivy League rivals, like Brown (3 6 percent) and Dartmouth (4. 8 percent).
New Initiatives for Duke
Students accepted the previous academic year were qualified to apply for funding to support a gap year. The Duke Gap Year Program awards successful applicants who wish to complete a year of service between high school and college between $5,000 and $15,000 instead.
In addition, Duke is one of the few universities in the country that adheres to a need-blind admissions policy. Duke intends to devote $175 million in university funds over the following years to undergraduate financial aid, which will include funding for study abroad, summer programs, etc. in addition to tuition.
