When we believe PhD candidates exhibit exceptional promise but are not yet prepared for doctoral studies, we frequently admit them to our MA program. If this is the case, it will be made clear in your acceptance letter whether you have been admitted to the MA program rather than the PhD program. We occasionally accept students into our graduate programs who have a BA or MA in a subject other than English. Their chances of admission will depend on how well they applied, how well they did in school, and why they want to pursue graduate-level English literature.

To be considered for a position as a teaching assistant, there is no additional work that must be done. However, it is advised that you mention this in either your personal statement or C if you have prior teaching experience. V. Is previous teaching experience a crucial criterion for admission to the MFA program?
When making admissions decisions, prior teaching experience is not the main consideration. However, an interest in teaching is important.
