Creighton School of Dentistry Interviews
Admission to the Creighton University School of Dentistry requires an interview. Interviews are by invitation only.
We have changed how we conduct interviews for the 2022-2023 admissions cycle due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The applicant will choose the time and date of their Zoom interview with a member of the admissions committee from a list of available times.
A current dental student will be present during the interviewees’ small group breakout sessions so they can ask any questions they may have.
Finally, applicants will be given access to a virtual tour of the dental building so they can learn about the establishment from the comfort of their homes.
All applicants must have completed a four-year high school that is accredited.
All applicants must have earned at least two years’ worth of credits from an accredited college of arts and sciences by the end of the spring term prior to the fall in which they intend to enroll in the School of Dentistry. This includes the mandatory completion of 64 semester hours (or 96 quarter hours), excluding physical education and military science.
Please be aware that each course’s listed hours should equal a full academic year of study.

Advanced Placement credit is NOT accepted for the prerequisites, with the exception of Physics and English.
- Prior to matriculation, ALL prerequisites must be satisfied in order to keep your seat in the class.
- With the exception of the 2020 Spring and Fall semesters due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ALL prerequisites must be completed in-person.
- These requirements MUST be fulfilled at a recognized university or college in the United States or Canada.
The completion of coursework in a number of other advanced courses, such as Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Immunology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, and Histology, is advised for applicants.
All applicants must be able to perform the manual and physical tasks required for practicing dentistry with reasonable accommodations. Admitted candidates must submit a private health record to Student Health Services prior to matriculation.
Within the constraints of its facilities and resources, Creighton University’s admissions policy is to accept qualified applicants. All applicants are taken into account for admissions based on their potential to complete the predoctoral program successfully without compromising the established standards of academic and clinical performance anticipated of all graduates of the School of Dentistry as well as their capacity to meet the needs of society to the greatest extent possible.
The Admissions Committee thoroughly examines each application. This includes the candidate’s DAT score, courses taken, leadership skills, shadowing experiences, and volunteer work, to name a few.
A diverse student body, according to the School of Dentistry, improves educational opportunities for all Creighton residents and advances the goal of the dental profession to train culturally competent professionals who can work successfully with all segments of the population and increase access to care for underserved populations. For these reasons, the school seeks a diverse student body.
At Creighton University, the wellbeing of faculty, staff, and students is of utmost importance. In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Violence Against Women Act, Creighton University publishes an annual security and fire safety report. This report includes data on reported crimes and fires for the previous three years, as well as institutional policies on alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, fire safety, reporting crimes, and other issues. This legislation aims to help applicants make enrollment or employment decisions based on those criteria and to make college campuses safer by disclosing such information.
Access the following website to download a copy of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. A free paper copy of the report is also available at the Public Safety office, located at 2222 Burt Street, Omaha, NE 68178, or by calling Public Safety at 402 280. 2104.
Each applicant must submit three letters of recommendation via AADSAS—two from science instructors and one from an instructor in a different field (such as an employer, a spiritual leader, or a dentist), or one recommendation from their college’s recommending committee. Please take note that we strongly advise you to submit their recommendation rather than the three letters if your college has a recommending committee. All letters of recommendation should attest to the applicant’s character and likelihood of success in the field of dentistry.
