What You Need to Know

  • If you have completed more than 12 credits at another college or university since graduating from high school and have applied as an external transfer student, you should do so. Current Cornell students should review the information for internal transfers before deciding whether to transfer within the University.
  • The financial aid and transfer application deadline is March 15.
  • We accept external transfer applications for fall entry only.
  • As part of the application, we require a properly filled-out transfer course description form. Forms are specific to your desired major. After you have officially submitted your application, you should submit this document.
  • We offer transfer admission into 13 different engineering major programs.
  • Taking the SAT or ACT is not required. It is advised that you have an official score report sent to Cornell by the testing company if you have previously taken the SAT or ACT. If you have never taken the SAT or ACT, you are not required to do so.
  • You must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score if you’re an international transfer applicant and English isn’t your first language.
