  • Ernest Rutherford, 1st Baron Rutherford of Nelson, OM, FRS, HonFRSE, was a New Zealand physicist who became known as the father of nuclear physics. Ernest Rutherford was born in New Zealand and lived from 1871 to 1937 (aged 66). His professions included chemist, professor, nuclear physicist, physicist, and politician.
