There is no penalty for multiple applications from students. Students interested in exploring other health studies majors can meet with Kelsey Nelson from Boise State Career Services, and they can also meet with an AASC representative who can offer advice on a wider range of topics. Should a student not be accepted into the program, advisors and students will come up with backup plans. Lewis-Clark State College Nursing Program
We are excited to share an opportunity between the Nursing Program at Boise State University and the Nursing We will provide LCSC with the contact information of students who are qualified but not admitted to the School of Nursing with their consent. Dual Enrollment in Associate Degree Nursing Program and Online RN-BS Completion Track
Students who are rejected from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program can try to get accepted into an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) program. All Idaho community colleges and Boise State have agreements allowing ADN nursing students to concurrently enroll in the online RN-BS program at Boise State. With this choice, students are able to pursue both an ADN and a bachelor’s degree in nursing simultaneously. Learn more about RN-BS Dual Enrollment.
An alternative path to complete a nursing degree is to complete a degree in another major, and then apply to an accelerated bachelor’s degree nursing program. How many students are admitted? How many students apply?
80 students are accepted into the program each fall and spring. The number of applicants averages 220 per admit cycle.
The School of Nursing primarily considers admission GPA, which must be above a 3 in statistics, chemistry, nutrition, and two semesters of anatomy. 0 in order to apply. Excessive repeats of these courses may also impact your acceptance. Applicant’s cumulative college GPA needs to be above 2. 5.

The average completion rate is consistently above 90%, which is above the national average
How long is the program?
With summers off, the program lasts five semesters, or roughly two 5 years.
I have transfer credits coming in from a different university, how will I know if they transfer?
Please take a look at our Transfer Equivalency System (TES). You can use this to determine which courses will transfer to Boise State. If you need further clarification, please contact a pre-nursing advisor.
Does the program include summers?
No, but students can work on minors or study abroad during the summer. (25-33% of nursing majors work on minors, but not all finish them)

The application is most significantly impacted by grades and the interview portion.
Will it help to have a CNA or other vo-tech assistive care credential?
Although having these credentials won’t have a significant impact on your application, the experience you’ve gained in these fields may be useful when responding to questions in an interview.
Who will be my advisor?
Students interested in pre-nursing receive guidance from the College of Health Science Advising Office. You will be assigned a nursing program advisor once you have been admitted to the nursing program.
Can a person who earns a nursing degree practice in a different state?
It might depend on the state’s license portability regulations.
I would like to specialize, can I do that?
No. This general degree aims to help you become certified and employed.
How can I gain residency?

According to FERPA, the advisor may not share a student’s information with anyone other than the student. We cannot talk about grades with the student’s parents. What we can do is talk hypothetically and completely exclude any discussion of actual grades. Or we can get a form that waives the right.
What if I am not 100% sure that I am interested in being a nurse?
To determine whether nursing is the right profession for you, we advise looking for an opportunity to speak with or observe other nurses.
