- Edgar Wright Born in United Kingdom Years 1974-. Edgar Howard Wright is an English filmmaker who is 49 years old and works as a screenwriter, film producer, writer, and television director. He is well known for his satirical genre films that are brisk and kinetic and heavily incorporate expressive popular music. His films also frequently use Steadicam tracking shots, dolly zooms, and his distinctive editing style, which incorporates wipes, whip pans, and transitions. Before releasing his 1995 debut feature, A Fistful of Fingers, he first started making independent short films. Wright wrote the comedy series Asylum with David Walliams in 1996, and he also directed it. Wright directed the sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), which ran for two seasons and starred frequent collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, after helming a number of other television programs.
